Bring Lyres & Flip Folders to Band Camp

posted Jul 22, 2018, 7:00 AM by Regina Ray

Band Camp starts this Monday. Students will want to have their own Lyre and Flip Folder. These are available at The Music Shoppe and we will have extras here at school for the students. The Lyres are made for each instrument. I recommend the bell clip-on lyres for trumpet and mellophone. Sousaphone players can use Flute Lyres. They attach to the forearm.

2018 Spring Gala Donation Request

posted Feb 18, 2018, 12:10 PM by Regina Ray

Every year in the Spring, we put together an outstanding performance and fundraising event, the Centennial Bands Gala and Auction.  This is our biggest fundraiser of the year.  It is always an exciting event to attend, but we need the help of A LOT of people to make it a success again this year.  It is impossible for only a handful of people to put this together on their own.

We are at the critical stage of getting donations.  These donations are the items and services that we will be auctioning.  Without these items, we have no auction.  Do you frequent, own, or work at a business that could donate items? Do you have a creative hobby and want to make something to donate? If so, we would greatly appreciate your help.  Past popular auction items include:

  • Gift cards for local restaurants, movie theaters, bowling lanes, nail salons, hair salons, and spas
  • Music lessons, driving school lessons, and ACT preparation courses
  • Services, including piano tuning and instrument repair
  • Themed gift baskets
  • Framed art
  • Handmade jewelry
  • Pool passes and golf outings
  • Tickets to a special event
  • Weekend getaways
  • Illini, Parkland, Centennial, or professional sports gear and memorabilia
  • Centennial Band Quilt
We also have lists of items that have been donated in the past and we need people to contact these businesses to find out if they will donate again. Attached is a donation request letter that  should be given to anyone that is donating an item for auction.  If you are planning to ask someone for a donation, please take this letter with you. Copies of the letter will also be available at the band concert on Thursday, February 22.

All donations are requested by April 2nd. If you have any questions, please contact Regina Ray at coordinator@chargerbands.com.

Thank you for your support!
