Urbana Sweetcorn Festival, Saturday, 8/26/17

Please join us on Saturday, 8/26 for our performance at Urbana's Sweetcorn Festival.  The performance begins at 5PM on the Main Stage.  The band will be performing music from the new half-time show, "Rocky Point Holiday," along with some Centennial favorites. Central's Marching Maroons and Urbana's Tiger Marching Band will also be performing.  It is a great opportunity for the C-U marching bands to celebrate the new season and we hope to see you there.

Popcorn Fundraiser

The Popcorn Fundraiser will run until Thursday, 8/31. Delivery is estimated for Wednesday, 9/27.  If your student has not received an order form, they are located in the Band room.  This is just one step towards paying their OWN WAY to Disney!

Pretty much everyone likes popcorn; be sure to ask your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to look over the brochure.

Registration - Thursday, 8/3 & Friday, 8/4

The Band Boosters will have a table set-up during registration to answer questions, accept Band registration forms and payments, and sell Chargers Band merchandise.  Booster members will be at the table on Thursday, 8/3, between 12-7PM and on Friday, 8/4, between 11AM-2PM.

Family Preview and Potluck Dinner - Friday, 7/28

We will be celebrating the beginning of the Marching Band season with a potluck picnic following the Family Preview on Friday, 7/28.  The Boosters organization will provide sandwiches, tea, lemonade, cups, and the paper products. Parent Meeting, Monday, 7/24 at 5PM

Please join us at the Parent Meeting on Monday 7/24 at 5PM in the Band room.  You will learn more about the plans for the upcoming year, including Fundraising information for the 2018 Walt Disney World trip.

This is also a great opportunity to ask questions about the Band program and submit registration paperwork, uniform orders, and medical emergency forms.  We are looking forward to seeing you Monday night!

Blood Drive - Extended through Friday, July 21

Centennial had 17 donors able to donate for the blood drive last week! We are only 3 short of the Life $avings grant. If a few more people donate by Friday of this week, we’ll still be able to get the Life $avings grant!  Be sure to use group code 70983C in order to receive proper credit. 

You may schedule online at Homepage - Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center or by phone at  217-367-2202.   Walk-ins are welcome!  

Potential blood donors must be in good health, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be at least 17 years old (or 16 years old with a signed parental consent form).  A complete list of donation eligibility requirements can be found at http://www.bloodcenter.org/donate-blood/donating-blood/donor-eligibility.aspx.  

Chargers Band Apparel

We opened up an apparel store (a work in progress!) for anyone who wants to buy Marching Chargers Gear! So far they have created some things for us to shop with, but most places have a spot where you can edit text to whatever you like (i.e. mellophone or color guard). If you are looking for something Charger-related to buy, feel free to check it out!

The Color Guard raised $376.20 at Saturday's car wash. Thank you to everyone who came to the car wash!

Uniform Fittings: July 24-26

Uniform fittings will held during the 2nd week of Band Camp on July 24, 25, and 26.  Please see the detailed schedule below, which includes the date and time assigned to each section.  

Be sure to note that multiple sections are being fitted each day, so some sections will start at 12PM and other sections will start at 12:45PM.  All incoming and returning students will need to be fitted.

Thank you to all of the parents that have volunteered to assist with the fittings.  If you are interested in helping with any of the fittings or if you have any questions, please contact Fran Bell at uniforms@chargerbands.com.

Blood Drive: July 10 - 15

We have an opportunity to serve our community and raise money for the Charger Bands at the same time.  Centennial is participating again this year in the Summer High School Band Challenge from July 10th through July 15th at the Community Blood Services of Illinois (Urbana Donor Center).
