The following items were submitted by Matt Johnson, former Charger Band Drum Major and saxophonist, class of 2005:

Nate Newman (class of '03)- Nate received his BMA from the University of Illinois in 2007 and is currently working on his Masters degree in trombone performance at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. Nate also plays in the world-renown Eastman Wind Ensemble.

Tom Siders (class of '03)- Tom received his BMA from the University of Texas in 2007 and is currently working on his Masters degree in trumpet performance at Rice University.

Mark Strand (class of '04)- Mark finished up his undergrad in Jazz Studies at Drake University, but no word yet on what he's doing for next year.

Centennial will also be represented in several of the midwest's marching bands this fall. Aaron Von Qualen (class of '08) will be playing trumpet for the Big Red Marching Machine at ISU. Jackie Bunick (class of '06) will be playing baritone for the Band of the Fighting Irish at Notre Dame. Brandon Heller (class of '04) will be playing clarinet for the Panther Marching band at EIU...I think, someone may want to check on that. And five alumni will be playing for the Marching Illini this fall: Liz Berry (class of '06) and Jen Grill (class of '08) will be in the clarinet section, Matt Johnson and Caitlin McGovern (class of '05) will be section leaders for the saxophones, and James McGovern (class of '08) will be joining the sousaphone section.

Lynn O'Brien (class of '05) has released her first CD.  This album features several
local musicians, including Mr. Madden!  More information can be found on her website:

Email messages from former Charger Band members:

"Hi -- Was just browsing and came upon the web site. I was in the first Charger Band, graduating in 1968. I played Baritone, with two others. The first band was a great one -- at least we felt so -- and was a lot of fun. Seems like the organization has greatly expanded and has met with much success!"   -- Charley Tichenor

"I was just looking at the web site. I noticed the picture of the Jazz band from my senior year in High School. I was part of the band and we took the trip to Philadelphia which was really neat. I no longer play myself but my daughter has some of my musical talent and plays in the band in St. Joseph Illinois. She can play the trumpet, taught herself to play the Clarinet, and is also very good at playing the piano. She also is very good at singing and acting to. If I find any old pictures at my parents house when I visit next I'll send them to ya.  Great site"   -- Randy Gawthorp
